From the ever expanding nightlife to the infinitely beautiful countryside with amazingly stunning architecture in the castles and churches that can be found, there is something for everyone to enjoy when visiting. Unfortunately, finding reliable public transportation is next to impossible in any city and even if you hop on a taxi, you’re likely to fall behind or fall into debt paying their fees. Thankfully, renting a car is still an option for anyone who looks into doing so.

When you rent a car you will have the ability to go where you want, when you want and even be able to make spur of the moment decisions about what you’re going to do for a particular day. However, finding the right deal and the right car to accommodate you while you visit Glasgow can be somewhat daunting, especially with the sheer volume of internet sites and rental companies to choose from.

Thankfully, by booking your rental here, you can save time and money. Glasgow Car Hire at the Airport

People worldwide enjoy visiting Scotland, as well as the people of the United Kingdom. People not only enjoy the country but one of its major cities in Glasgow. They enjoy it so much, that over three million visitors come to visit Glasgow every year.

Some of those people enjoy traveling via rail, vehicle, or bus. However, unless one is starting the trip in Great Britain then one is most likely traveling via air. Upon arrival one of the first orders of business after securing luggage is looking for a Glasgow car hire at the airport. There is no other way to enjoy Scotland like the freedom of having one’s own vehicle. It opens so many more opportunities while visiting the city and the country.

Like airports all over, the best but also most expensive car hire services are at the airport. The big name, international car services are available right at the arrivals areas. They have complete fleets of cars one can choose from and often all simply needs to do is walk-up to secure a car. There are even brokerage services that can help find the best car bargain at the Glasgow airport.

However, there are off-site car hire services that one can pre-book before starting their trip. These car hire services can be found online. Once booked, a traveler’s vehicle will be waiting at the airport when they arrive, they do some paperwork, and the keys are handed over. One can leave on their Scottish adventure straight from the airport.

Glasgow Car Hire - Cheap

Glasgow is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom. From the inner city attractions such as Glasgow Cathedral, George Square, the Kelvingrove Art gallery, or the Museum of Piping, to the Scottish Highlands, there is so much to see and experience. Coming in to Glasgow Airport, one will need transportation to get to their hotel and to get around. The nature of your visit will help determine how to get this transportation need met as cheaply as possible.

If you are just coming to the city for business and will not be traveling much, it may be better to hire a taxi as the Glasgow road system is full of mazes and one-way streets. Parking provisions are few and expensive. However, if your traveling will take you outside the city to the many scenic and historical places around the country, car hire is a major necessity.

The best way to find cheap car hire in Glasgow is through the services of one of the online price comparison websites. Here you can see side by side quotes that give the lowest possible prices on a variety of vehicles and an assortment of options. With Glasgow being just a complex driving experience, it is a good idea to check with your selected car hire agency to see how much extra a Global Positioning System (GPS) will run so you can more easily find your way around.

Argus Car Hire in Glasgow currently tends to have some of the cheapest everyday rates. Mini cars go for around £44 for a one-day rental. Economy cars are averaging about the same. Compact and intermediate sized cars run between £48 and £56 with standard size sedans like the Golf running £65. A full sized Mercedes-C or Audi A-5 can run around £100.

Glasgow Airport Car Hire - Enterprise

More than any other time, people are conscious of the effect that they are having on the environment. Everywhere we look we have things telling us to drive less and to use communal forms of transport; from the congestion charge to the adverts on television and news reports telling us the findings of the next climate scientist. Many people have decided to drive much less so use trains if they are going on holiday within the British Isles. For people going to Edinburgh, this is incredibly straightforward; there is a direct train line from England into Edinburgh, but if you want to go to Glasgow it is more difficult. Thus, people take the curious decision to fly to Glasgow airport (the thinking being obviously that the net pollution per person is less than it would be for a car). It makes people feel a bit better, as though they are doing their bit for the environment. Yet, when they decide to walk in Glasgow they lose all faith in their pollution-free decision; walking is tiring and time consuming and merely pushes more people to drive.

Holiday is not the time to be a saint; holiday is a time to relax and have fun. Hire a car from the airport because it will make your holiday much more enjoyable and much easier. If you feel bad about polluting the atmosphere then the solution is easy; keep walking when you get home or plant a tree in your back garden to offset the damage!

Glasgow Airport Car Rental

Glasgow and the surrounding area is definitely a place worth visiting if you are into history, and would like a calm getaway trip. You can fly to Glasgow Airport from numerous other countries, or indeed from an internal flight from further down south – these internals flights can often be cheaper than getting a train there! However, once you touch down you will want to think about seeing some of the sights. Unfortunately some of the places to visit around Glasgow are rather remote and it can be simply impossible to catch a bus there. This is especially true if you want to see some of the great green landscapes around it, or indeed some of the hidden historic landmarks. With the freedom of your own car for your trip, you could also use it to go off to other places around Scotland that wouldn’t be available any other way; go and see the famous Loch Ness, or even take a trip to Edinburgh and walk the Royal Mile.

Car rental at Glasgow Airport is fruitful with many companies offering you very competitive rates from the moment you touch-down. You can even book in advance from many car hire websites to get better rates, and even dropping the car off at the precise location that you pick at the airport. Checking one of the many price comparison websites available for car hire companies will allow you to see who can offer you the best rates for that particular location you never know, one of the companies might well by trying to break into the Scottish market and give you an excellent rate on your preferred rental.

Glasgow Airport Car Park Charges

Airports seem to have gained notoriety for being grossly overpriced. It can be guaranteed that if you talk to anybody about parking at the airport then you will hear a sharp intake of breath followed by the old adage that

Glasgow Airport Car Hire - Hertz

I’m always very impressed with the car we hire with Hertz. My favourite airline Ryanair recommends them as Hertz is their car rental partner. Hertz is the car version of Ryanair. You get great value for the amount you pay and a spectacular looking and comfortable vehicle, way better than it looks on the internet when you book it. They seem to be the biggest car rental company and have many more available cars at such low prices, yet in just as good, if not better condition than the others! Hertz look after their cars very well and are always in excellent condition with a full petrol tank when you pick it up. Once we hired with another company and it wouldn’t start! Whenever you need to hire a car, don’t bother wasting your time looking at Avis or especially Europcar, just hire a car with Hertz, they have the best website and you’ll be amazed at the amount of results they come up with.

Despite Hertz having the most available cars and many more customers, they always control the length of the queue at the Hertz desk and you are never waiting any longer than 10 minutes and unlike most car rental companies, they treat you like human beings. For some reason all car rental companies get terrible reviews, but I don’t know why, Hertz are the best by a clear mile! At Glasgow, my advice would certainly be to hire a car from Hertz; you get fantastic service at a very low cost.

Glasgow Airport Car Parking - Short Stay

If you are only out of the country for a day or two, perhaps on business, it may make more sense to park in a short stay car park. You may even wish to use it to pick people up who are returning from flights, perhaps family members, or dropping people off at the airport to give them a helping hand to start their holiday. If you are simply dropping off or picking up you will need to pay £1 for 15 minutes parking, and you will need to use car park number 3. All the short stay car parks at Gatwick airport are operated by NCP.

Short stay costs £22.20 per 24 hours or £22.20 for the first 24 hours and then another £22.20 for the next 24 hours of part thereof. However, you may wish to upgrade to fast track parking. This service costs a little extra (each 24 hours costs £27.80) but it does mean that you will get a parking spot closer to the terminal so you can get in there as quickly as possible. Short stay

Glasgow Airport Car Parking - Long Stay

Some people are lucky enough to take very long holidays of over two weeks; sometimes many months. Whilst you are away you will definitely need somewhere to park your car to ensure that it is safe. Gatwick airport parking has many trained staff who patrol the vast car park day and night to ensure that all the vehicles parked up are completely safe. The long stay car park is also surrounding by high security fencing and is all covered by a CCTV system. The car park is near the south terminal of Gatwick and there are frequent transfers to and from the long stay car park to the terminal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The transfers are completely free and take a maximum of 5 minutes each way.

If you don’t mind paying a little bit extra Gatwick also offer a long stay car park known as “long stay plus”. This is a little more luxurious than the regular stay car park as staff will park your car for you as you make your way to the terminal (saving you precious time) - the south terminal is even closer than the regular long stay car park so the transfer only takes 2 minutes. There are also friendly staff on hand to help you with your luggage. If you are someone that enjoys the finer things in life, or just want to try and improve your airport experience slightly, for the small extra cost this is really something worth considering.

Glasgow Airport Car Parking

I love it in Glasgow, I lived there for a year as a student and I never get back to visit as often as I would like. I am planning a trip there soon though. It will be a bit different to what it was like when I was a student tough as I am lucky enough to be earning well. I plan to take a plane to Glasgow airport and hire a car and stay in a very nice hotel, which is rather more upmarket than when I revisited before. I could drive up but I decided that it would be far more relaxing to fly and make it a much more fun trip. It is simple too, so I gather, just get off the plane and pick up the car at the airport and then return it just by the Glasgow airport car park when flying back.

I cannot wait to see how the city has changed as I have not been there for about ten years. I am sure that the underground will be the same and the West End with its range of student shops and lovely cafés but I think the main city centre is likely to be very different. I know there is a huge new shopping centre for a start and I am sure many of the shops have changed. I am sure the best thing is the same and that is the people. I am sure they are just as friendly as they ever were.
