Since it has been the main focus of bloggers, newspapers and the television media for the last month or so, you have undoubtedly heard about the swine flu virus that began in Mexico and is spreading around the world. Once people started to realize that swine flu was killing people throughout Mexico, they started to get much more worried about the potential implications of this virus spreading. While swine flu has continued to spread throughout the world (appearing in everywhere from the United States to Australia), it’s percentage of fatalities have decreased significantly. The strange thing is that while you can look at the facts and see that the deadliness of this flu virus has decreased, people and officials seem just as worried as ever. As a result of their continued but misguided worries, people are changing their plans and certain countries are imposing all kinds of regulations.

Regardless of the fact that the swine flu worries continue, I am not going to let them interfere with my summer travel plans. Because I have taken a trip during the last couple of summers, I already have plans to spend a week and a half in Glasgow with one of my good friends. After spending time tracking down great deals on my flight, hotel room and Glasgow airport car hire, there’s no way I am giving those up and canceling my trip to Glasgow. Luckily, my trip isn’t for at least another month, so I have my fingers crossed that people will stop worrying about the H1N1 virus and start worrying about the next thing they see on their television sets!

I Wouldn’t Miss Going to Glasgow for Anything

Although it is still awhile away, I can’t wait for August to start. If you think that I am the type of person who likes to wish my life away, you are mistaken. The reason that I am so excited for this future occasion to arrive is because my cousin is going to be having a baby. This will be first child that my cousin has, so you can imagine just how excited she and everyone else is right now. Even though my cousin and I don’t currently live close to each other, there is no way that I would miss this incredible event. To ensure that I would be there to see my cousin give birth, I booked my trip to Glasgow over three months ago. The nice thing about making my reservations to Glasgow so early is that I was able to get some really low rates.

My cousin offered to let me stay with her when I visit her in Glasgow, but I didn’t want to put any extra stress on her since she’s going to be dealing with a lot of it already. By getting it reserved in advance, I was able to get my Glasgow hotel room (which is right by the hospital) at a significantly discounted rate. To ensure that I can get to the hospital and anywhere else my cousin needs me to go, I also secured a Glasgow airport car hire on the Internet. I realize that there is still some time until this event happens, but I am so excited to be a part of this birth!
