I love it in Glasgow, I lived there for a year as a student and I never get back to visit as often as I would like. I am planning a trip there soon though. It will be a bit different to what it was like when I was a student tough as I am lucky enough to be earning well. I plan to take a plane to Glasgow airport and hire a car and stay in a very nice hotel, which is rather more upmarket than when I revisited before. I could drive up but I decided that it would be far more relaxing to fly and make it a much more fun trip. It is simple too, so I gather, just get off the plane and pick up the car at the airport and then return it just by the Glasgow airport car park when flying back.

I cannot wait to see how the city has changed as I have not been there for about ten years. I am sure that the underground will be the same and the West End with its range of student shops and lovely cafés but I think the main city centre is likely to be very different. I know there is a huge new shopping centre for a start and I am sure many of the shops have changed. I am sure the best thing is the same and that is the people. I am sure they are just as friendly as they ever were.

Glasgow Airport Car Hire

The first thing that you must do when you arrive at Glasgow Airport is, without doubt, hire a car. With so many different types of car for every type of family or group, I cannot think of a single reason why someone would decide not to hire a car when it makes things so much easier to cope with. You can book online and have it over and done within 20 minutes.

If you think about it, you don’t want to be arriving in a completely new city that, quite possibly, you’ve never visited before and it would be, quite honestly, crazy to try and negotiate the complicated public transport systems – particularly as you might be a little bit jetlagged as well after a long journey. The transport services in Britain are notoriously poor and you don’t want to be stood at a Glaswegian bus stop for a few hours late at night waiting for a bus that may not even take you to the hotel.

Hiring a car removes the trouble that you’ll have with ensuring that you get to the hotel in one piece. You can jump into the car, drive to your hotel with the heating on (very welcome in the freezing Glaswegian winter) and be in your bed within the hour. This is a much more pleasing way to spend your evening, and when you’re laden down with souvenirs at the end of the time away, you can throw all the extra bags into the boot and be on your way quickly. Imagine the hassle of trying to carry them on a bus back to the airport!
